Deep Soul of Barbagia (Slideshow) – 2010

Barbagia is the deep soul of Sardinia. The Mamuthones masks are an ancient tradition. Mysterious and evocative of dark tribal rituals. In Mamojada (Nuoro), during the carnival, parade through the streets of the country, but behind it, there are the rituals of preparation and the men who proudly keep the tradition alive. The  Atzeni Beccoi Association follows the oldest rituals in the donning of masks and this is the story of these rites.
